I have had a desire to write this book for a long time. I have come to love these short stories, especially the ones about the people and places I have experienced. My goal in writing this book has been to inspire others to step out to do missions. I wanted to show how it all began by taking small steps, such as giving away what I had, becoming a missionary where I lived, doing small acts of obedience all by faith. One step would often lead to the next step. I did not wait until I had all the resources I needed before I began. Like to disciples giving away loaves and fishes, it grew in my hand as I gave away what I had. With God’s blessing, we were able to feed a lot of people.
I also wanted to illustrate in these stories how the kingdom works. Jesus said the Kingdom is within people, so finding the right people made all the difference all along the way. God’s grace often comes in the form of people. Without a team to help on both ends, nothing much would have been accomplished. I am always looking for people to partner with in ministry. I am like a broker, matching people with the need to give to those who are in need. If I am anything, I am a grace broker.
In this book, after giving some background to the various mission fields that the Lord has opened to me, I simply share vignettes, or snapshots, of some of the things I experienced along the way. Some of these stories are not intended to make a point, but simply to share what I saw that left an indelible mark on me. I hope it has the same effect on you, inspiring you to serve the Lord and become part of His Kingdom.
